Data on the number of articles containing the term “biodiversity” in the national and regional print media per year were collated by Kantar Media on behalf of The Heritage Council from 2010 to 2014. For the years 2015 to 2018 inclusively, no data is available for this indicator. In 2019 a new method of collating the data was undertaken by RuePoint on behalf of The Heritage Council. For 2019 and 2020 the number of mentions of the term ‘biodiversity’ was tracked in both print media and online for Ireland. The number of articles, and the number of mentions of ‘biodiversity’ objectively measures the level of media engagement with biodiversity-related issues.
Tracking the usage of “biodiversity” in both print and online media provides an indirect measure of media engagement with biodiversity-related issues.
