Trends in invasive alien species

Worldwide, invasive alien species are one of the primary drivers of biodiversity loss.  By preying directly on native species or competing with them for resources, invasive alien species have the potential to rapidly and irreversibly damage native ecosystems, as well as pose a threat to food security, human health and economic development.
