Trends in the status of insects
In terms of number of species, insects form the majority of diversity of all known species both worldwide (58%) and in Ireland (37%). Monitoring changes in insect populations identifies broader changes in Ireland's environment and is a fundamental step toward conserving insect diversity and the essential ecosystem services they provide.
